Return in the Farnbacher Ferrari

Pierre Ehret will make an additional appearance in this years Le Mans support programme in the Endurance Racing Legends Series of the Peter Auto Group. In addition to his ninth Le Mans start in the Rinaldi Racing Ferrari first outing at La Sarthe , the German sports car veteran will also make a guest appearance in his old Farnbacher Racing Ferrari from the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

The GT and prototype series of the Endurance Racing Legends brings the Le Mans Youngtimers back to the big tracks, which most fans saw in action about one to two decades ago. 57 cars, including several LMP900s, SR1s and LMP1s, are expected for the two 45-minute rounds on Friday and Saturday. In the 3 classes Prototypes, GT1 and GT2, each with 2 sub-categories (A = older than 20 years, B = between 10 and 20 years old), a wide variety of bolides from past glorious Le Mans, IMSA, FIA GT or ELMS times can be found. A total of 12 cars will start in GT1 (1 GT1A; 11 GT1B). The largest class is GT2 with a total of 7 GT2 A and 22 GT2B. The top cars of the two prototype classes are represented by 2 Proto 1 cars and 11 Proto 2 cars. In addition, there are 2 GT3 Corvettes in the invitational class.

Pierre Ehret will be driving a Ferrari F430-GTC. "This is the same car I drove in 2008 in the ELMS with Pierre Kaffer and Anthony Beltoise and in Le Mans with Pierre and Lars Erik Nielsen. That was the last time I was able to inherit the GT2 podium at Le Mans. We will drive in our GT2B class against a number of competitors from that time - including the Italian Autorlando team with whom I was able to finish on the podium at Le Mans in 2007. They won't be racing our Le Mans car from that year, but at least I'll have an opponent to compete against on this occasion."

19 different brands are represented in the field. Porsche makes up the bulk of the contingent with 19 vehicles. They are followed by 7 Aston Martin, 6 Ferraris, and 3 each Dodge Viper, Riley&Scott Mark III and Dallara SP1 prototypes. Morgan, Lola and Corvette are represented in the field with 2 cars each. One car each is entered by Toyota (a GT1 Supra), Pilbeam, Norma, Maserati, Marcos Keiler, Ford, Courage Bentley and BMW.

However, the focus for Ehret at the start of the two 45-minute races is not only on having fun with his old vehicle. "The races and all the sessions give me the chance to get an additional 3 hours of track time. This is an additional and valuable training opportunity, especially considering that some of the corners on the circuit have changed a lot since my last appearance in 2014. And finally, I can get my fitness up to speed again just before the big one."
