Amateurpilot Pierre Ehret has started the new season of the Blancpain Endurance Trophy on a high. At the 3 hours of Monza, the start of the endurance part of the Blancpain GT-Series the native german Ferrari-Pilot archieved a solid 2nd place in the AM-class for privateer-pilots together with his belgian copilot Stef Vancampenhoudt. The Rinaldi Racing Ferrari F488 GT3 ended the race as 28th overall in the 57 car big field, just 30seconds behind the eventual winner, the frensh AKKA ASP Mercedes AMG GT, although Ehret claimed a better result would have been in the cards

"Finally back on the Podium! Last season I nearly doubted about my driving skills after a difficult season with our SLS GT3. But thanks to the competent support of Michele Rinaldis crew and with the new ferrari we came back again to the front. My new teammate Stef had a good start and drove to the front in our class during his stint. I was able to match his times in the 2.nd half of the race until a slow puncture costed us the majority of our lead. Then, 20 minutes before the finish I was lapped by a Bentley. While letting him by our opponents with the AMG-GT also squeezed through and punted me into a spin. So we lost the class win in the end."

Ehret will compete in the entire season of the BES. "The plan is to run the whole season with Stefan plus additional drivers for the Spa 24hours. After the first race, we know now that we are quite competitive in our class. In addition, I will compete in selected VLN races. Unfortunately, for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring a participation is not possible this year due to personal commitments. But the Spa 24h is a good replacement." Further races for Ehret are under evaluation.
