A LMP2-Racing programme 2026 for Pierre Ehret
Pierre Ehret is shifting his focus in gentleman racing after a successful 2025 season. The 10-time Le Mans participant is planning to make his debut in a new vehicle class for the upcoming 2026 season. "I bought an LMP2 Ligier for the coming season, with which I want to participate in the new ‘Legends of Le Mans Series’ being organized by the ACO and Peter Auto. I thought to myself, before I turn 70, I want to give it another go! The LMP2s are really highly sophisticated racing machines, and with this particular chassis, which also has a certain racing history, I have another opportunity to further develop my racing skills without the pressure of a current professional racing series such as the ELMS or the Asian LMS."
Ehret is also planning two further racing programs in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse and the Peter Auto Series.
"My LMP2 is a Ligier JS-P2 Nissan. It is the former #1 development chassis from the manufacturer Ligier. The car has competed twice in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and has racked up a total of five victories in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, the car competed in the European Le Mans Series. In the Legends of Le Mans series, Rinaldi Racing will again take care of my car Initially I intended to compete there with a Porsche or Ferrari GTE, but the prices of these cars have exploded since the ACO and Peter Auto announced the new series. The LMP2 was only available for a third or a quarter of the cost of a GTE. That was the deciding factor in the end."
Ehret will also continue to compete in the Peter Auto Series in 2026. "Here, I will stick with the Ferrari F430 that I used last year and with which I finished on the podium a total of five times in the GT2C class of the Endurance Racing Legends series. I'm also intending occasional races in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse, where I'm switching from the 992 to a Porsche 991 GT3. This is a former ADAC GT Masters car from the Toksport team. However, only a maximum of two meetings are on the bill there."
